After its premier in April 2007, the organizers of dc Düsseldorf contemporary announced that the contemporary art fair in Düsseldorf, planned for April 17 to 20, would not be held this year. Various reasons led the organizers to reach this decision: The current crisis in German art fairs set off a series of restructuring measures at the beginning of the year. All indications are that art market activity concentrates on a few art fairs with international and not just German significance. The organizers of dc are also currently holding talks with other art fairs with the intention of consolidating and strengthening Germany as an art fair venue. The outcome of these talks is still open and for this reason it does not seem sensible for dc Düsseldorf contemporary to take place in spring 2008.
