Sony World Photography Awards 2022

Sony World Photography Awards opened the 14th edition of its call for photographers, and you can submit your work for free in any of the competitions. Closing date: January 14, 2022
The Sony World Photography Awards have several categories: Professional Competition; Open Competition; Youth Competition; Student Competition; National Awards; Latin America Professional Award, and Alpha Woman Award.
Produced by the World Photography Organization, the Sony World Photography Awards are internationally recognized and influential in the photographic calendar.
The awards provide a platform for the visibility and perspective of contemporary photography; for both established and emerging artists. Photographers who were finalists or winners in previous editions have been represented by renowned galleries and institutions around the world, and their works have been featured in major international publications.
In this edition, the Awards consist of four competitions Professional (for photographers submitting works or portfolios), Open (for photographers submitting a single image), Students (for academic institutions), and Youth (for participants aged 12 to 19).
All images are judged by industry experts from around the world, who meet annually in London. There is a total prize fund of $60,000 (USD) plus Sony digital imaging equipment, which will be distributed to the winning photographers.
In addition, the awards recognize the world's most influential artists working through the Outstanding Contribution to Photography award. Past winners include Mary Ellen Mark, Elliott Erwitt, Martin Parr, William Eggleston, Candida Höfer, and, most recently, Nadav Kander.
The Sony World Photography Awards aim to establish a platform for the continued development of photographic culture. To this end, the awards recognize great contributions to photography in the past through the Outstanding Contribution to Photography Award and also participate in the search for new talents of the future, allowing them to become known and participate in exhibitions around the world. This is achieved through the awards program and by integrating the Youth and Student competitions and Sony scholarships for students and professionals. The latter demonstrates Sony's commitment to photographic culture by extending its relationship with individual winners beyond awards to develop individuals' careers. The $7,000 (USD) and $3,500 (USD) scholarships are awarded to four professionals and three students, respectively, to develop their projects further.
