The Museo Moderno of Buenos Aires, Argentina, will present until March 1st, 2025 the show Sofía Bohtlingk: El ritmo es el mejor orden (Sofía Bohtlingk: Rhythm is the Best Order) curated by Victoria Noorthoorn.
Its title comes from the Peruvian choreographer and composer Victoria Santa Cruz, with whom the artist feels deeply inspired and who synthesizes her attitude of dedication when creating. For more than a decade, Bohtlingk has been working from bodily action and her paintings and drawings show a rhythm in each brushstroke, stroke and visual gesture. Each of her works is conceived as the extension of her body, which needs to be expanded in the world and in various media. To understand her practice, from the existential point of view, the body and the work seem indissoluble.
The curator commented that the drawings unfold as a whole that oscillates between the figurative and the abstract. Likewise, there is a dialogue in the creative process between the spiritual and mystical research. For this reason, the exhibition aims to share the intimate work space where there is an urgent need to do.
