Symposium Rethinking Conceptualism: Avant-Garde, Activism and Politics in Latin American Art (1960s-1980s)

The symposium Rethinking Conceptualism: Avant-Garde, Activism and Politics in Latin American Art (1960s-1980s) and the discussion on Third Cinema and internationalism will be to move to a virtual format. The program will take place in March 2021, organised in eight online meetings, between the 10th and 25th March 2021. The full programme will be announced soon. Among the symposium speakers are: Luis Camnitzer, Ana Longoni, Gerardo Mosquera, Lisette Lagnado, Joaquín Barriendos, Cecilia Fajardo-Hill, Víctor Vich, Claudia Calirman, Emilio Tarazona, Vania Markarian, María Mercedes Herrera Buitrago, Óscar Ardila Luna, Fernanda Carvajal, Jorge Lopera
Online Reading Sessions:
In these sessions, they are interested in analysing different theories on Latin American conceptualism, as well as reconsidering certain terminologies and assumptions on Latin American art.
On January 28, 2021 will take place Online Reading Session # 8 with Cecilia Fajardo-Hill. In this encounter, a conversation with Cecilia Fajardo-Hill, and Andrea Giunta, curators of the exhibition "Radical Women: Latin American Art (1960-1985)", will exchange some ideas around topics related to experimental and activist art practices by Latin American, Chicana and Latina women artists.
