International Symposium on 20th Century Latin American Art

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) and its research institute, the International Centre for the Arts of the Americas (ICAA), present the International Symposium on 20th Century Latin American Art that will take place January 19 - 20, 2012. On January 19, the Museum will officially present the publication series entitled Documents of 20th-Century Latin American and Latino Art: a digital archive with more than 10,000 sources that will be made available online to the public free of charge. Additionally, the first volume, out of 13 jointly published books by the MFAH and Yale University Press, will be launched during the event. The debate, entitled Mining the Archive: New Paths for Latin American/Latino Art Research, will be held on January 20. It will include the participation of the following guests: Alejandro Anreus, a History of Art professor and expert in Latin American modern art; Roldán Esteva-Grillet, Art Critic and Writer; Ivonne Pinni, Professor and Executive Editor of ArtNexus; and Edward J. Sullivan, Professor and expert in art from the Iberian Peninsula, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
