On June 1st, the Serpentine Gallery opened the exhibition "Tomás Saraceno In Collaboration: Web(s) of Life," a living exhibition distributed throughout Kensington Gardens that reflects on how the climate emergency is interconnected and affects different forms of life. The display is powered by solar panels and its state of activity depends on the clean energy available. This is Saraceno's first solo exhibition in the UK and was curated by Lizzie Carey-Thomas, Chief Curator, and Chris Bayley, Associate Curator.
The work of Tomás Saraceno (Argentina, 1973) is informed by a multimedia quest that explores the interconnections between diverse ecosystems and life forms. In an exhibition review published by ArtNexus, Rocío Cárdenas states "Saraceno’s art will make it possible to articulate new frames of meaning for our visual memory, allowing us to break canons or hierarchies between the very small and the very big of the visual memory of life in all its expressions."
"Tomás Saraceno In Collaboration: Web(s) of Life" will be on view until September 10 at Serpentine South Gallery, Kensington Gardens, London W2 3XA.
