Seis Seis is a new space for contemporary Cuban art that was born in the context of the 12th Havana Biennial (2015) and reopened on July 1, 2016 in its current address on 74b Aguiar Street (at the corner of Peña Pobre and Cuarteles), in Old Havana. Seis Seis proposes to present, promote, and commercialize the works of Cuban visual artists at the national and international levels. Formed by Sandra Contreras (director), Vivian Companioni, and Laura Arañó, the staff aspires to establish a space for exchanges between art critics, researchers, curators, artists, and art students, as well as to systematically organize exhibition projects. It will showcase and promote works by artists living abroad. Seis Seis has been incorporated to the Arte-Corte sociocultural transformation project. It has participated in the presentation of cultural proposals inside and outside the space, with the goal of establishing direct relationships with the community in which it is located. For this purpose, from July 18 through July 22, the institution organized the first art appreciation course for children, taught by Laura Araño and Gabriela Hernández.
