Second Argentine and Latin American Art Critics Essay Contest

The Argentine Association of Art Critics and Fundación Proa invite students, artists, critics, curators, and art researchers to participate in the Second Argentine and Latin American Art Critics Essay Contest, which in this edition will be dedicated to the analysis of current issues in the criticism and curatorship of Argentine and Latin American Art.
This edition of the contest invites the exploration of thematic, critical, and/or interdisciplinary essays in the different artistic fields and cultural disciplines that converge in the issues of criticism and curatorship, analyzing their processes and discourses. The essays have the possibility of focusing not only on the Visual Arts but also on the possible intersections between this discipline and music, film, literature, dance, and new media. It will also be possible to address the links established with cultural studies such as gender, cultural management, public, education, postcolonial issues, criticism, history, art theory, and philosophy.
Students, artists, critics, curators, and researchers or teams from Argentina or abroad residing in Argentina may participate with no age limit. Essays must be submitted in Spanish.
Up to 5 images with a resolution of 300 dpi may be included. The author(s) must make the necessary arrangements for the authorization to publish the images. If this requirement is not fulfilled, and the essay is selected for publication or wins one of the prizes, the paper will not include images.
Entries should be sent to: http://contacto@aaca.org.ar. Between September 10 and November 10, 2021. Essays submitted after the closing date will not be accepted.
One (1) essay per author or team of authors may be submitted, establishing a responsible person. The authors' data must be detailed on the first page under the name of the contest.
The jury will be in charge of selecting ten essays among the submitted works and awarding a first prize and two mentions. It is made up of: Ana María Battistozzi, Laura Casanovas and María Teresa Constantin.
A First Prize of $100,000 (Argentine pesos) and two mentions of $30,000 (Argentine pesos) each will be awarded. In addition, the winners will be recognized with the publication of their respective essays in an eBook publication.
After the jury's evaluation and verdict, on December 15, 2021, the winning essays with their respective titles and authors will be communicated through the websites of the Argentine Association of Art Critics and Fundación Proa. Likewise, the authors of pre-selected and non-selected essays will be informed via e-mail.
