Sebastián Dávila

Sebastián Dávila was the winner of Premios y Estímulos 2010, the call organized by the Gilberto Alzate Avedaño Foundation. The competition awarded the winner with an exhibition to showcase the winning work. Dávila presented the winning project entitled Un Período de Tiempo Indefinido (An Indefinite Period of Time), an exhibition that included 36 large photographs and an 2 x 5 installation with multiple portraits by the artist. Dávila inquires about existential themes and the condition of mankind. The exhibition was the result of the artist's uninterrupted endeavor. For five years, Dávila collected conceptual elements that today allow him to show a series of photographs approach with various resources. The exhibition presented works and images that juxtapose people against their immediate surroundings, the planet, and the universe. The exhibition was sponsored by the Secretaría de Cultura, Recreación y Deporte, and the Gilberto Alzate Avedaño Foundation. An artist from Bogota, Sebastián Dávila has exhibited his work in cities like Barcelona, Kyoto, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Bogota. His photographs have been auctioned at the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA), and he won a mention at last year's International Photography Awards (IPA).
