The news agency Reuters recently reported that a legal battle over the ownership of 16 sketches and over 100 photographs of the late, renowned Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti has ensued and not ceased to persist. The creations have been sequestered in The Grisons Art Museum for the past two years. The dispute circles the question of the works' rightful owner. The legality issue was brought to attention by the Alberto and Annette Giacometti Foundation (Paris), which claims that the art pieces were stolen years ago. The collection includes a variety of works such as photographs taken by the illustrious Man Ray, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Robert Doisneau. The first and only exhibition showcasing these works was in 2011 and in 2014, the aforementioned foundation issued a formal complaint alleging a fraudulent burglary. An appeal from two months ago, outlining a request to exhibit the collection again was denied. Details concerning the battle are nebulous, with court documents' specificity being up in the air, but it is apparently being referred to as a "prosecution against unknown persons".
