"Viceversa: posiciones y perspectivas de una colección” opens at MAMBO

In the framework of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Museum of Modern Art of Bogota (MAMBO), the exhibition "Viceversa: positions and perspectives of a collection" was inaugurated, a tour through the works of the museum that exalts the history and objective of the institution. The exhibition was curated by Eugenio Viola, and features more than 400 works, selected from among the 5,000 pieces of national and international art that comprise MAMBO's collection.
"Viceversa" is a journey that proposes to make an updated and "reverse" reading of the museum's collection, proposing interpretations that challenge the traditional links given by chronology or theme by proposing anachronistic connections and unexpected counterpoints. The exhibition is divided into three curatorial axes: "Memory", "Identity" and "Dissonances", which reflect debates about the purpose and relevance of museums today.
Likewise, the exhibition runs parallel to three site-specific projects that revolve around reflecting on the contemporary agency of the Museum. These three projects are: " Genealogía de una colección" by Adriana Bustos (Argentina); "Saludos desde Bogotá" by Giuseppe Stampone (Italy); and "Los museos también lloran (y harto)" by Juan Uribe (Colombia).
"Viceversa: posiciones y perspectivas de una colección" will be on view through February 18, 2024 at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá (MAMBO), Cl. 24 #6-00, Bogotá.
