The vice-presidency, the Culture and Sports council, and the spokespeople of the Community of Madrid Government are launching the 4th edition of "In Search of a Curator".
The call is open to curators and artists, regardless of nationality, residing in Spain and younger than 35 at the close of the application period. Collectives can also participate, provided that at least 50% of their members fulfill these requirements.
The selected candidate will be in charge of the exhibition program of the Sala de Arte Joven de la Comunidad de Madrid for the year 2013. The goal of this search is to support a project authored by an independent curator. Also, the curator will develop the content of his or her project during a period of six months next year, with a minimum of two and a maximum of three exhibitions, following the calendar and budget conditions established in the call.
The curator must be well versed in the Madrid Community art scene. The final date for the submission of projects is September 28, 2012. Submissions must include the following documents:
• Application form
• Artistic CV, two pages (DIN A4) maximum
• Photocopy of DNI, passport, or resident card
• Project dossier, which must include:
- Title of exhibitions or activities
- Memory of exhibition proposal or proposals, maximum 5 pages (DIN A4)
- List of artists to be included in the show(s), who must reside, work, or exhibit regularly in the Community of Madrid, and their CVs.
- Technical card and images of the works.
- Sketches and images of the project on paper or jpg format, with a minimal resolution of 72 dpi.
- Description of the projects technical demands.
- Calendar of activities.
- Estimated project budget (including taxes), broken down by exhibition or activity.
- Any additional documentation and graphic material required for an understanding of the project.
The documentation must be delivered to Registro Auxiliar de la Vicepresidencia, Consejería de Cultura y Deporte y Portavocía de Gobierno, C/ Caballero de Gracia 32, in the General Registry of the Community of Madrid. It must be properly labeled with the title "Convocatoria Pública para la selección de Comisario para la Sala de Arte Joven de la Comunidad de Madrid".
The jury will value positively those proposals that, in addition, include exhibition formats such as conferences, guided visits, forums, workshops, etc.
The budget for the development of the project in its entirety is of €88,500 Euros.
