The SESC Pompeia, in partnership with the New Museum in New York held between October 25-27th , the international conference "Ideas City: São Paulo" a biennial event that is to function as a platform for discussions between artists , architects , designers , urban planners , sociologists, and community with hopes of using art and culture to raise solutions for the city. Under the theme "Untapped Capital", the event presented talks and workshops occurring parallel to 10th Architecture Biennale in São Paulo . One of the highlights was the architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha, the only Brazilian to receive the Mies van der Rohe Award ( 2000) and the Pritzker Prize for Architecture (2006 ) and whose contributions have changed the urban landscape of the country .
Some of the highlights of the conference was the workshop titled "Adopting Provocation: the arts as the creation of identity" with artists Jac Leirner, Jonathas de Andrade and Lucia Koch, as well as "World Cafe Workshops" with Fernanda Brenner , founder and artist director of Pivô, Daniel Lima , artist and activist , Ligia Nobre , historian and co - curator of the X Architecture Biennale in São Paulo and Benjamin Seroussi , curator and member of the Advisory Council of the People's House.
