Santiago Díaz Escamilla was the recipient of the Sara Modiano Grant for 2018. This grant, intended to incentivize emerging local artistic talents, is offered by the Sara Modiano Foundation for the Arts in honor of the life and work of the contemporary artist after whom it is named. Díaz Escamilla's proposal is an exploration of the relationship between the Sun and the center of the Earth—the two points propelling the planet's energy—by means of a video installation about heat, the incidence of light, time, and the abyss separating those two points between which life follows its course. The exhibition can be visited at Espacio Odeón Bogotá, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m.
