Sandra Vásquez de la Horra has been granted the Hans Theo Richter Prize

Dedicated to the visual arts and particularly to drawing and graphic design, the Hans Theo Richter Prize is one of the most prestigious in Germany. Created in 1998 by the wife of the German painter and graphic designer Hans Theo Richter, it is granted by the Academy of Arts of Saxony and the Kupferstich-Kabinett Museum of Dresden in collaboration with the Hildegard and Hans Theo Richter Foundation.
Sandra Vásquez de la Horra's work evokes a lyrical, independent, and profoundly moving visual world drawn from her personal experiences. The Chilean-born artist also draws on the traditions and myths of her native country and European cultural history to poetically address themes of femininity, fear, and death.
The award will be presented on September 10 at the Albertinum der Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden. The ceremony will include opening an exhibition at the Sächsischen Akademie der Künste in Dresden, Germany.
