Salon des Beaux Arts awards Venezuelan photographer Hamilton Becerra

Paris-based Venezuelan photographer and filmmaker Hamilton Becerra was recently recognized at the Salon des Beaux Arts (Fine Arts Salon) in Paris, with the Gold Medal in Photography. The international event was held from December 7 through December 11 at the Carrousel du Louvre in the city of Paris. The awarded series presents images that portray Becerra's own mythological anthropomorphic creations. (Horus, Hathor, Anubis), Egyptian gods from the fourth century and the Minotaur of Crete depicted with large horns and crossed arms. The Société Nationale des Beaux Arts (SNBA) was created in 1862. Its first president was writer and painter Theofilo Gautier. But it was not until 1890 that the Salon des Beaux Arts was held annually with the goal of expanding through the ideas of its new creators. Its current president is Michel King, official painter of the navy. It is directed by Isabelle Lawson.
