Young Art Salon 2015

Continuing with an interest to promote and disseminate Colombian art, the Fundación Gilberto Álzate Avendaño selected 35 artists from those that participated in its call to become part of the "Young Art Salon 2015" exhibition, which is divided in two shows. The call invited emerging and mid-career artists under the age of 35, to present artistic projects using any approach, medium, technique or format. The selection process, which included the review of the 166 proposals that were submitted, was conducted by Ana María Lozano, Liliana Sánchez and Ramiro Camelo. Speaking about the selection process, Ramiro Camelo said in an interview with the newspaper El Tiempo that "There is an incredible variety of visions in the exhibition. There were several projects submitted that had to be rejected, despite being very good, because they were too big for the space." The fact that the Salon does not have a central theme allows for the inclusion of works that address national and historical subjects, as well as other themes that are removed from the national context, but that are, like the others, conceptually solid and formally strong new contributions to Colombian art. The first exhibition will remain open to the public until August 30, 2015. There, visitors can see works by artists: Juliana Canal, Jonathan Alexander Chaparro, María José Chica, Fernando Domínguez, Juan Felipe Flórez, Sebastián Fonnegra, Moisés Londoño, John Jairo López, Oriana Marín, Rafael Medina, Diego Antonio Mendoza, Juliana Ríos, Alejandra Rincón, Gabriel Rojas, Luis Sebastián Sanabria, José Sanín, Andrés Felipe Uribe, Felipe Valdivieso, Ximena Velásquez, and Adrián Villa. The second exhibition will remain open from September 10 to October 25, 2015 and will include works by the following artists: Julius Caesar Steel, Margaret Mary, Besosa, Andrés Felipe Castaño, Gonzalo Garcia, Mariana Gil, Juliana Gongora, Oscar Andres Martinez, Maria Fernanda Mora River, Adriana Mosquera, Peña Caroline Bray, Diego Piñeros, Daniel Eduardo Poveda, Julian Santana, Jorge Luis Vaca and Fernando Zuluaga. The exhibition Young Art Salon 2015 will be on display in the exhibition rooms of FUGA (Calle 10 # 3 – 16, Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Colombia) and at Plataforma Bogotá, (Calle 10 # 4 – 28 Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Colombia).
