Mystic Route

The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Monterrey, México, presents Mystic Route, a reassessment of the notion of mysticism within the current Latin American context through the reflections of ten artists who, in their search of new compelling ideological models, construct their own identities and channels of communication with the transcendental by combining ancestral elements with new ones.

The group exhibition includes works by Miler Lagos, Gabriel de la Mora, Alfadir Luna, Antonio Paucar, David Gremard-Romero, Gabriel Rossell-Santillán, Marcos Castro, María García-Ibáñez, Pedro Reyes and Santiago Borja. The show includes drawings, paintings, photographs, installations, sculptures and videos. With them, these artists have created individual mythologies and rituals to formulate a criticism of globalization.

Symbols, forms, stories and feelings emerge from works that invite us to question spirituality beyond its most common definitions. Most of these authors that are part of the exhibition are conceptual artists and their approaches to mysticism are the result of research and the gathering of information.

Mystic Route will remain open to the public until October 20, 2013.
