Forty-five works by Colombian artist Omar Rayo (1928-2010) were stolen from Rayo's residence. The exact date of the robbery has not been established, but it is believed that the thieves perpetrated the crime at some point between January 15 and March 9 of 2011. The painter¿s former residence is located in downtown Bogota, at the same address where ten years ago he was a victim of another robbery. The place housed 60 artworks by Rayo that belong to the collection of the Museo Rayo, in Roldanillo, and that were scheduled to be exhibited during the upcoming celebrations to commemorate the museum¿s 30 year anniversary. Agueda Pizarro, Rayo¿s wife, notified police of the robbery, when she realized the pieces were missing, after going to the apartment to retrieve the works she wanted to keep for herself. According to Pizarro, the door locks did not show forced entry. She also pointed out that the missing pieces are large-format works and, therefore, would have been very difficult to retrieve from the place. Authorities already have the description and information labels of all the works.
