R.I.C. 2

RIC is a program for international curators with an outstanding trajectory, who are invited to spend 7 days in Santiago, acquainting themselves with the local art scene, generating connections and establishing collaborative networks with spaces and institutions both national and international. Created and managed by Pedro Montes Lira, director of D21 Proyectos de Arte, and Alexia Tala, a independent curator, the program was launched in 2012 with the visit of Tanya Barson, International Art Curator at tate Modern, London. After a period of inactivity, the program has been recently restarted with the visit of Moacir dos Anjos, a Contemporary Art researcher and curator at the Joaquim Nabuco Foundation in Recife, Brazil, where since 2009 he coordinates the Politics of Art exhibition project. Dos Anjos will spend 4 days visiting institutions and artists in Santiago, and 3 days in San Pedro de Atacama with Alexia Tala, to see the area and context where the project Plataforma Atacama takes place. "We seek to facilitate the guest curator's research and have them become familiar with the Chilean scene (…). What's interesting is that each agenda prioritizes the individual curator's interests, and according to that they are sent artist's portfolios to select those they want to visit", explains Alexia Tala. The program's next guest will be Agustín Pérez Rubio, curator and artistic director at MALBA Fundación Constantini.
