RESÒ

An art residency program in Piedmont, RESÒ began in 2010 as result of the collaboration between leading contemporary art institutions to support art and education in that northern region of Italy. The platform is supported and promoted by CRT. RESÒ originates in the French word reseau, which means network, and it is used to refer to cultural, social and artistic territorial resources. It is a network of support for creative production within the region of Piedmont. This residency program has grown since its first edition and, for the first time, it includes the participation of the most prominent contemporary art institutions in that city, along with the participation of institutions from Cairo (Egypt), New Delhi (India) and Cali (Colombia). In this manner, the event has become an international network of support for the idea of artistic activity—understood as a vehicle for social and cultural exchange—that promotes the use of the places involved as points of encounter. Based on this type of institutional collaboration, RESÒ calls for the creation of the IN and OUT program to promote the mobility of artists through the continuity of residencies. The objective is to establish places for theoretical reflection and creative growth in which the artist's presence also becomes a stimulus for the surrounding community. Thus, any region that hosts the residencies will reap the cultural and social benefits generated by the program. For RESÒ 4 (2013-2014), Lugar a Dudas calls for participation in the residency program in Cittadellarte Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella, Italy. The artist selected will participate in a residency from September to October of 2014. All expenses will be covered, including airfare tickets. The application must be completed in English and any person of any nationality living in Colombia can participate. A committee that represents the participating institutions will select the artists. During the 6- to 9-week long residencies, artists will participate in meetings, discussion panels, workshops and studio visits. Lastly, the artists in residence at RESÒ are encouraged to produce works that reflect on contemporary definitions of learning, knowledge, community and practice, as to also contribute with their personal feedback about the territory in which they stayed and on their experiences during the residency. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2014. The selection of artists will be announced on May 15, 2014. The application form and more information about the participating institutions and earlier editions of the event can be found here: http://www.reso-network.net/APPLICATIONS.htm
