Cundinamarca Residencies

Within the context of its missionary work, the Museo de Antioquia has created the Cundinamarca Residencies program. Born as part of the "Museo 360" project, it aims at opening and expanding the space and experience from the institution out to the city, through a methodology of artistic and artistic-pedagogic laboratories.

"Cundinamarca Residencies" is an artistic and educational project that will select, through direct invitations or through a call, two local artists, one national artist, and one international artist to complete a residency in the museum institution and to create along with the community a project that connects with the realities and needs of the inhabitants living around the institution and, in general, of the downtown areas of Medellin.

For the residencies to take place, a work space will be conditioned and opened in one of the Museum's corner, located between the streets of Cundinamarca and Calibío. There, for a six week period, the participating artists will develop research and actions inscribed in two modalities: artistic residency, which will result in an artistic exercise based on the sensitive lecture of the social and spatial context—taking into consideration the participation of groups of people that belong to the local community—and whose process strengthens social interaction, the common use of the public space and self-awareness as active citizens; and, Pedagogical Residencies, focused on the exchange of knowledge among participants, also based on a reading of the context and using art as mediator.

The call is open from December 7, 2016, through February 27, 2017. Winners will be announced on March 10, 2017, and the residencies will be developed from May 2 to June 10, 2017.
