In cooperation with KulturKontakt Austria, the Federal Chancellery of Austria offers 50 artistic residencies in Vienna and Salzburg for the year 2017. The residency aims at offering the opportunity to meet and interact with local artists and being exposed to the Austrian art scene and its cultural environment. Additional activities include visits to galleries, studies and museums, contact with the local literary and publishing worlds, as well as access to the music life found in Vienna or Salzburg. Whenever possible, the artists in residence will receive free tickets to art and book fairs, to performances at the Tanzquartier Wien, and to the International ImpulsTanz Dance Festival, among other events. This call is open to artists under the age of 40 whose place of permanent residence and academic education is outside of Austria. Austrian citizens cannot participate in this program. Candidates may apply to participate in any of the following categories: •Visual arts •Art photography •Video and multimedia •Art, Science and Technology •Composition •Literature •Literature for children and young people •Literary translation •Cultural education The length of the residency varies according to the artistic discipline: the residency for visual artists, photographers, video and multimedia artists, artists working with art, science and technology, and composers is 3 months long. Writers and literary translators will have a one to two month long residency. Arts and cultural educators will participate in a one month long residency. The residencies will take place in Vienna (for all the categories) and in Salzburg (only visual arts, photography, video and multimedia). They include lodging and the use of a study. Artists will receive a monthly stipend of 800 euros per month, plus 300 euros for materials, health and accident insurance, a cellphone and a monthly pass for public transportation, among other benefits.
