The Chinati Foundation's Artist in Residence program was instituted in 1989 with the aim of supporting the development of artists of diverse ages, backgrounds, and disciplines. Since then, more than 75 artists from more than fifteen countries have benefited from this residency program. The Chinati Foundation provides the artist who wins the residency with one thousand dollars, an apartment and a studio in Marfa (Texas), to help him advance his projects. Applicants must send a cover letter, resume, one sheet of slides and one more print of one of the works to the Chinati Foundation office before March 31, 2008.
