THE Novas Mídias do MIS, LABMIS media lab, the first of its kind founded in a state museum of Brazil— Museu da Imagem e do Som, in São Paulo—announces the opening of its LABMIS 2014 International Residence call.
Aimed at promoting the production of works developed through contemporary languages and electronic media, the call invites artists to compete for one of the three residencies it offers, one at an institute in Canada (AVATAR), and the other two at an institute in The Netherlands (IMPAKT).
The call is open to Brazilian artists over the age of 18, as well as to foreign artists who have live in Brazil for more than five years. Only proposals that have never before been published or exhibited will be accepted. The deadline to submit all applications is November 29 of 2013.
The artistic project will be developed in the areas of digital media, video, audio, animation, Web art and alternative technologies that are considered part of the electronic media. The residence will last up to two months. The winners will also receive airplane tickets, travel insurance, money to cover living expenses, the equipment required to develop the project, specialized support for the execution of the project, among other things.
