The Instituto Distrital de las Artes—IDARTES—though the Gerencia de Artes Plásticas y Visuales, announces the call for residencies at the Centro de Residencias para Artistas Contemporáneos–CRAC.
The residency will be awarded to a visual artist of legal age who resides in the city of Bogota. Candidates must have a proven artistic trajectory in the field of the visual arts that expands for at least three years or five years in the audiovisual art field. The residence is awarded with the goal of offering an exchange of experiences and promoting the development of artistic projects.
Candidates must complete a six-week project that emphasizes archival and public spaces in the city of Valparaíso, in Chile. The six week period must occur sometime between August and September of 2012.
Candidates must submit a folder with all of the required paperwork and must also include a CD with the content of the proposal, properly sealed and labeled. The required paperwork must include an attachment—available at the event's homepage—and a copy of the applicant's ID document. The CD must contain a text under 7 pages long and the title of the proposal, the author's name and the name of the competition; a description of the proposal, requirements; a chronogram of activities to develop during the stay; interests and motivations; a socialization proposal; name, email address and phone numbers of two personal references; lastly, a Curriculum Vitae and a PDF presentation of the candidate's most important projects—it must not contain more than 15 images. The visual projects cannot exceed 3 samples (no more than 3 minutes each). Applications must be submitted in person or by certified mail. The proposals will be received on April 26 through April 30 of 2012 at the Instituto Distrital de Artes, located in Calle 8 No. 8 – 52 from 9:00 am to 12:30pm, and from 2:00 pm a 5:00pm.
The winner of the residency will receive a purse of 10,000,000 Colombian pesos to cover for traveling expenses, insurance, food, materials, and the rights to the residency.
