Tabakalera opens its call for residencies aimed at supporting the research processes of projects that integrate society and its citizens into contemporary artistic practices. One year long, the residency offers the space, time and conditions—including a three-month stay at Tabakalera—that are necessary to research and develop a program of open activities/sessions throughout 2017. This call is open to researchers, artists, curators and theoreticians from any nationality, whose practices inquire about themes associated with culture and contemporary society in the European context through contemporary artistic practices. The residencies will begin in early 2017 and continue throughout that year. It is divided in two parts: research and a program of open activities or sessions that stem from the research process. The program of activities and the research may be interspersed with each other if the resident deems it necessary for the development of the project, with the understanding that the research processes are open and continue over time. The person or group selected will receive a purse of up to 40,000 euros (before taxes) for the costs involved in the development of the program of activities. Proposals must be submitted no later than November 5 of 2016.
