The Education Department of the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga (MTCM) announces the opening of its Artist-in-Residence call for national and international creators working in any artistic discipline with the objective of involving the general public in the concepts and procedures that are part of contemporary creation. During a two month residency in the city of Malaga, the artist selected must develop a creative-educational project specifically conceived to be implemented within the groups with which the MCTM's Education Department works. Agreement between the Museum and the artist-in-residence-educator: The Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga will offer: a temporary contract covering the work and services for the two months in which the project selected must be developed; a 25 hour weekly working period; a gross monthly salary of 1,000.00 euros, or 1,200.00 euros if participant must relocate for the residency; working space in the MCMT's administration building, available from 8 am to 4 pm; collaboration in the activities of the educational program directed to the young public; expert advice on social art, critical pedagogy and working in learning-based communities. The artist-in-residence-educator must agree to: cover lodging expenses, as well as the organization and costs associated with traveling; develop and complete the project for which he/she was chosen within the two month period of time of the residency, namely, from June 1 through July 31 of 2017; copyleft the project developed during the residency; participate in any actions developed by the Museum geared towards the promotion of the project; at the end of the project, write a report that summarizes the entire process of the project, including any preparatory work, steps taken, and actions performed, and offer as conclusion an overall assessment of the experience; should the artist not be Spanish or from a European Union country, his/her participation will be dependent on obtaining the legal permits required for legal employment in Spain. Candidates must send a single document that includes the following: Curriculum vitae, a selection of (low resolution) images of the artistic and artistic/educational works already created, as well as a project to be developed with its general objectives, its targeted public, the time frame for its execution and a list of materials and/or required technical equipment. Every candidate must submit a single project that must be developed in two phases: research-conceptualization and execution. The Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga reserves the right to contact candidates in order to address any doubts pertaining to the project. In addition, candidates must submit a second single page document that includes a brief summary of the project to be developed.
