Adelina Residencies for Latin American Artists

During the second half of this year the Instituto Adelina will receive the four artists, two of them from Brazil, participating in their artistic residencies in São Paulo. Until June 10, the institute will be accepting portfolios by artists, born or residing in Latin America, interested in completing its art residency. The Adelina Residencies for Latin America will be divided in two cycles occurring in the second semester of this year. Each cycle will receive two artists, one of whom will be from Brazil. The selection of artists will be entrusted to a jury formed by Josué Mattos, artistic director of the Instituto Adelina—who will also be in charge of curating the residencies—along with the following six curators and artists with experience and active in the Latin American art circuit: Camila Bechelany, Galciani Neves, Julia Lima, Vitor Cesar, and Renata Cruz. According to the owner of the gallery, Fabio Luchetti, "The idea of the Adelina Residency is to bring together artists working in different disciplines and fields of contemporary art who offer proposals that are in tune with the Adelina Galería's goal of establishing an artistic dialogue with Latin America. Additionally, we are very interested in the exchange of experiences associated with the art world that we are part of. We began the process of residencies in 2017 and this was the first edition with this model of the call. Some of the artists that have already participated in the residencies come from Germany, Argentina, the Canary Islands, and several Brazilian cities." The Instituto Adelina develops research and production projects and encourages the dissemination of knowledge pertaining to contemporary art. Located in the Perdizes neighborhood, in São Paulo, the institute promotes encounters, debates, workshops and publications, in addition to interdisciplinary courses, exhibitions, and extramural activities. It embraces a large project that includes, within the same neighborhood, the Adelina Galería and art residency for artists living outside São Paulo. The institute favors exchanges between artists, curators, and art lovers that encourage the free search of knowledge along with an approach to art and learning, actively participating in the education of different publics, including public education teachers, students, children and teenagers—whose interests are contemplated in specific programs—the elderly, white-collar professionals, and the general public.
