Renaming the World: Botanical Expeditions in New Spain

On September 10, the exhibition "Renaming the World: Botanical Expeditions in New Spain" opened at the Tlatelolco University Cultural Center of the UNAM in Mexico. This exhibition, curated by Sofía Carrillo Herrerías, reviews two moments in Mexican documentary and visual history that narrate how our relationship with nature was transformed; the first moment, the botanical expedition of Francisco Hernández, and the other, the Royal Botanical Expedition of New Spain, carried out by Sessé y Mociño in the 18th century.
Works by the following artists are presented: Lorena Mal, Dulce Chacón, Manrico Montero, Yohanna Roa, Erika Parra, Elvia Esparza, Javier de la Cruz, Silvia Bolaños, Silvia Rubio, Jessica Michelle Hernández, Gretchen Rodríguez, Andrea Carreón, Marytere Nosti, Aldo Beltrán, Viridiana Hernández, and Karina Matamoros.
