In recent days, the Fundación Museo Reina Sofía approved the donation of six works from the collections Juan Várez-Benegas, Helga de Alvear, American Friends of Contemporary Art (AFCA), and Juan Carlos Verme. The Museo Reina Sofía received the piece titled Dhaka Pavilion (2008) by Dan Graham, donated by the Colección Juan Várez Benegas; the work Türken in Deutschland (Turks in Germany, 1973-1979), by Candida Höfer, from the Galería Helga de Alvear. It also accepted the work A Dog's Nightmare by Mark Bradford, and Le Corbeau et le Renard (The Fox and the Crow, 1967-1968) by Marcel Broodthaers, from the American Friends of Contemporary Art (AFKA).
Likewise, the institution received from Juan Carlos Verme 11 photographs, part of the series titled "Machu Picchu" (1928) by Martín Chambi, as well as the work titled Los Incontados. Un Tríptico. Variación de Una Pieza Teatral (The Unaccounted for. A Triptych. Variation of a Theatric Play (2014), creative by the Mapa Teatro-Laboratorio de Artistas group.
With the goal of strengthening the museum's collection with material from Latin America, the Fundación approved the proposal to purchase documentation associated with the exhibition titled "Destructive Art," created in 1961 at the Galería Lirolay by a group of artists living in Argentina. Likewise, the foundation approved the acquisition of six engravings of Rostro de Claudio con Mano (Face of Claudio with Hand) from the series "Autocopy" by Venezuelan artist Claudio Perna.
