Regina José Galindo Centre d'Art la Panera in Lleida

The Centre d’Art la Panera in Lleida presents a new exhibition dedicated to Regina José Galindo, a Guatemalan artist known for exploring various forms of violence in contemporary society. Titled "Descolonicemos el mundo" (Decolonizing the World), the exhibition, curated by Semíramis González, addresses themes such as racism, gender violence, and neoliberal extractivism through a series of works including photographs and performances created specifically for this occasion.
The exhibition opened on June 15, 2024, and will run until September 29, marking a milestone in artistic reflection on Western hegemonic narratives and their impact on countries of the Global South, as commented by González. An example of this is the performance "Fruta amarga" (Bitter Fruit), presented by the artist at Plaza Ramón Berenguer IV, an intervention aimed at highlighting the vulnerability and discrimination faced by migrant seasonal workers in the region.
Regina José Galindo, internationally recognized for her use of performance as a medium of expression, has received several prestigious awards, including the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale, for works that challenge social norms and gender violence in Guatemala.
The exhibition can be visited until September 29th at the Centre d’Art la Panera in Lleida, located at Plaça Panera, 2, 25002 Lleida, Spain.
