Organized by the Instituto Goethe in Bogota, the exhibition was conceived as the second part of Record Again! 40 Years of German Video Art. It will remain open to the public until May 17 at El Parqueadero del Museo de Arte of the Banco de la República. The exhibition consists of nearly 40 videos created between 1950 and 1980 that were recovered and restored by the ZKM (Center of Art and Media Technology) in Karlsruhe, Germany. As result of this restoration, today the videos are available in digital format, just a few years after they were thought to have been lost given the advanced state of deterioration they were found in. The exhibition of these videos reveal the early years of a German video art movement characterized by a diversity of productions, a spirit of experimentation and enthusiastic approach to the discovery of a new medium and its possibilities within the field of action in art. They attest to the degree to which the documentation of the vital surrounding, the perception of the body and the integration of other persons into the artistic processes through technology, were recurrent themes that interested the artists. The exhibition will include works by: Joseph Beuys, Michael Bielicky, Claus Böhmler, Klaus vom Bruch, Lutz Dammbeck, Rudolf Herz, Nan Hoover, Wolf Kahlen, Korpys/Löffler, Urs Lüthi, Ernst Mitzka, Heike Mutter, Marcel Odenbach, C.O. Paeffgen, Klaus Rinke, Ulrike Rosenbach, Reiner Ruthenbeck, Gerry Schum, Peter Weibel, Ursula Wevers, Peter Wiersbinsky and Marcello Mercado, among others.
