The exhibition titled Re:Bandera (Re:Flag) at the Centro de Memoria, Paz y Reconciliación in Bogota will remain open until January of 2017. The show was organized by the Fundación Más Arte Más Acción with the support of the Alta Consejería para los Derechos de las Víctimas, la Paz y la Reconciliación [High Council for the Rights of Victims, Peace, and Reconciliation]. "Re: Flag" includes the participation of twenty-six emerging and established Colombian artists who have created their own versions of a utopian flag based on their social and political contexts to make the public reflect on concepts closely connected to our social reality—violence, peace, utopia, memory, and the future. Among the participating artists, there is a group of guest creators who had already reflected on that national symbol as nation building, as well as a group of emerging artists whose works interact and generate new spaces for aesthetic and conceptual reflection. About "Re: Flag," High Counselor for the Human Rights of Victims, Peace, and Reconciliation, Ángela Anzola, said the following: "We are proud to have the opportunity of supporting projects like 'Re: Flag,' because it tangentially contributes to the strengthening of our nation's memory, a central element for the consolidation of a culture of peace and respect for diversity. Each of the reinterpretations created by the participating artists not only conveyed their personal hopes, but also the collective utopias that are woven everyday in Colombia as result of an often troubled, but always exciting, history." Artists: Adriana Arenas, Alison Turnbull, Ana María Millán, Antonio Caro, Bastardilla, Caldo de Cultivo, Carolina Caycedo, Chócolo, Edinson Quiñónez, Fernando Arias, Iván Cardona, Jaime Tarazona, Julieth Morales, Leonardo Herrera, Leonel Castañeda, Libia Posada, Liliana Angulo, Miguel Ángel Rojas, Nadia Granados, Nicolás Cadavid, Olga Robayo and Marius Wang, Pedro Mesa, Saga Uno, Santiago Rueda, Transitorias, and Wilson Díaz. "Re: Flags" is presented in the context of the of the 500th anniversary of the work Utopía by Tomás Moro and also marks the conclusion of the project "Newtopias" by Más Arte Más Acción, which ended with the launching of the third volume of the book collection that includes the titles: Somewhere, Better Than and This Place—recopilations of reflections by all the participating artists and other professionals who have visited the Base Chocó of the Fundación Más Arte Más Acción during the last five years. Más Arte Más Acción is a non-profit organization formalized in 2011. It generates spaces for critical thinking through exchanges and collaborations with interdisciplinary artists, writers, and other professionals from Latin America, Africa and Asia. In addition to the address in Bogota, the foundation also has a space in the Colombian Pacific, La Base Chocó—created in collaboration with Dutch artist Joep Van Lieshout—that serves as source of inspiration for exploring themes like water, loss of biodiversity, exponential population growth, urbanization, and human consumption. According to Jonathan Colin: "In the art world, everybody wants to be the center of attention: at galleries, fairs, and the trendy cities. But to us, the important thing is to take artists away from that scene and insert them in a place in which nothing belongs to them. This way, they can concentrate and reflect on the world and do something real: move the minds of others." To see the other flags
