Rafael López

This year the Mexican illustrator, Rafael Lopez, is assigned to represent through the stamps of the United States Postal Service (USPS), a sample of Latin music via portraits of 5 singers. The faces of Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Selena, Carlos Gardel and Carmen Miranda are illustrations which in 2011 will be circulating worldwide. In previous years, the artist has also made images for USPS highlighting social issues that prioritize Latino themes. Rafael Lopez is the founder of "Urban Art Trail," a project for innovative social development for San Diego (USA), and has been the illustrator of several campaigns, including a poster chosen by Barack Obama in 2008 called "ur Voice."
