The María José Jove Foundation and the University of Coruña, through NORMAL, Espazo de Intervención Cultural from the UDC, announce the second edition of the FMJJ Artistic Residencies Program.
For this second edition, the number of residencies has increased from one to two, intending to deepen the relationship between artistic creation, critical thinking, and social participation and strengthen the Galician cultural context, promoting creative projects of social interest linked to the community.
The FMJJ Artistic Residencies Program impacts the creation of a conceptual and differential framework that contributes to the interpretation of contemporary issues and offers other possibilities of reading and understanding what surrounds us. Other objectives of this program are to create favorable environments for the development of critical thinking and art associated with aspects such as heritage identity, ecology, or the environment, to facilitate a horizontal approach to new ways of insertion in the territory, of reading and interpreting the contemporary landscape, natural and rural space or to promote values of protection and dissemination of the natural and cultural heritage of Galicia, through contemporary art. Therefore, projects will be considered accordingly to originality and innovation, the objectives of the call, as well as their ability to create multidisciplinary collaborative networks.
It is endowed with a maximum of 6,000 euros per residency; artists will also be provided with a workspace at NORMAL; curatorial support; and material and economic resources to produce unpublished projects. Additionally, accommodation at the Rialta university or Elvira Bao university residence, depending on availability.
The artistic residencies will have a minimum duration of one month, which can be extended up to three months and can be carried out from September to December.
The deadline for submitting applications is June 12, 2022. Registration must be formalized through the following e-mail address: normal.comunicacion@udc.gal, attaching the application form and the required information (ID card, project summary, CV, and Cover Letter), as specified in the attached program rules.
An Evaluation Commission will evaluate the proposals made up of Ángel Calvo, art critic, and curator; Sonia Fernández Pan, curator, and writer; Leticia Eirín, assistant for Culture at the University of A Coruña and head of NORMAL; and Susana González, curator, and director of the FMJJ Art Collection and MUV.
The selected artists will be announced on June 30.
