With the objective of encouraging creation and research in the field of technological and digital media in Mexico, the National Council for the Arts and Culture in that country, through the multimedia center at the Centro Nacional de las Artes, announces the call for the Art and Media Production and Research Program. The event will grant awards in the form of economic support up to the amount of $200,000.00 Mexican pesos, as well as advice in both production of the artistic work and theoretical individual or collective research. The Support Program covers the development of projects in the following categories: -Research. It contemplates the development of never before published or exhibited research and reflection projects, from the perspective of the social science disciplines in connection to art and technology. Proposals must offer a theoretical analysis of contemporary artistic practices that reflect on technology and its use. -Production. It covers the production of never before published or exhibited artistic works created with technological and digital media, as well as hybrid productions generated through the combination of art, science and technology, such as: interactive art, sound art, generative art, online art, kinetic art, bioart, art and code, video art, performance arts, robotics, digital graphics and related manifestations. The call is open to Mexican and international artists and researchers over the age of 18 who, in both cases, reside in Mexico. Applicants may only participate in one of the two categories (Production or Research). The deadline to submit proposals is May 9, 2014. Candidates can only participate with one project, whether it is individual or collective. In instances when the project is submitted by an art group, one person from the group must represent it before the National Council for the Arts for any paperwork and administrative and judicial procedures in associated with the call, throughout the entire application process and until the completion of the project.
