Third Edition of the Bancomer-MACG "Arte Actual" Program

The Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA), through the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, and the BBVA-Bancomer Foundation, announce the third edition of the Bancomer-MACG "Arte Actual" Program, intended to support the development, production, and exhibition of projects by younger artists.

This year, grants will be offered to ten artists between the ages of 23 and 35, working in Mexico on one or more of the following media: painting, drawing, photography, graphic arts, sculpture, installation, video, performance, animation, and digital and electronic art.

An expert jury, comprised of five members from different disciplines (national and international artists, academics, curators, and cultural promoters) will pre-select up to 40 candidates, who will later be interviewed individually and in private.

At their interview, candidates will have the opportunity to present their previous work and expand on the specific project under consideration. After this stage, the jury will make a final selection of up to 10 fellows, who will receive support from the Bancomer-MACG "Arte Actual" Program 2012-2014.

Since its inception, the Bancomer-MACG "Arte Actual" Program has had the purpose of opening up fields of reflection and critique within artistic practice, as well as to foster the professionalization of the younger generations through discussion with peers and with specialists in a variety of fields. It also seeks to promote dialogue, negotiation, and exchange between artists and social agents, with special emphasis on the way such exchanges materialize in artworks that are able to trigger new processes of interaction with the general public.

This call for applications is public and will remain open between Wednesday May 2nd and Friday, June 1st, 2012. Applicants can download entry forms and participation requirements at www.fundacionbbvabancomer.org and www.museodeartecarrillogil.com.
