The Art History Department of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the Universidad de los Andes plans to hire a visiting professor for one year minimum, with the possibility of extending the contract permanently in the area of:
Contemporary Art History with related interests in the following areas of study:
art/science/technology
digital art history
global studies
Selected candidates are expected to:
• Teach various basic undergraduate courses and master's seminars, advise on undergraduate projects, lead academic activities, develop research projects in their areas of specialization, and actively participate in the activities and development of the department, the faculty, and the university.
• Take on student counseling, scout for undergraduate and graduate program applicants, participate in committees and other working groups, and contribute to the development of inter-institutional relations at the department, faculty and university levels.
• Work actively to obtain external resources and to create inter-institutional alliances in order to carry out teaching and research projects in the areas of her/his specialty.

PhD in Art History (before August 2020)
Teaching experience
Investigative expertise
Working language: Spanish (candidates whose working language is English are eligible, provided they have a command of basic Spanish)
Instructions for the two stages of the process
Stage 1:
A form is available for candidates to submit their complete application portfolio, which must include all of the following:
•Complete resume (CV)
•Scanned images of undergraduate and graduate diplomas
•A cover letter (2-3 pages) presenting the candidate's academic background, short- and medium-term research purposes, and her/his academic and teaching aspirations in the context of the Universidad de los Andes.
•An outline for a three-year research plan (2,000 words max.)
•A Philosophy of Teaching Statement (2,000 words max.)
•At least two programs for university level courses taught in the areas required in this call; preferably varied courses in terms of level (basic, advanced), format (individual, group, graduate, seminars), and modality (face-to-face, blended, virtual)
•Proposals for two courses to be offered in the Art History Department at the Universidad de los Andes (an intermediate level course for undergraduate students in the professor's area of specialization; and an advanced level, seminar-type course for graduate students).
•2 academic letters of recommendation
•1 letter of professional recommendation

Stage 2
The finalists will be invited to Bogotá to give an interview, one class, and one lecture at the university.

Finalists will be notified by email. Their visit to the Universidad de los Andes will take place between the 13th and the 24th of April, 2020.
