The very first bench by Argentinean artist Pablo Reinoso was installed on November 19, in a public square in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. This exhibitions of works by Reinoso is an initiative of BARO Galeria that was made possible through a donation from the Banco de la Ciudad de São Paulo and the support of São Paulo entrepreneurs Michel Farah and Kack Vartarian. The piece responds to a reflection by Reinoso that began with the series Beam Bench—started in 2011—and it is also based on Garabatos (Doodles), in which he worked on another reflection centered on materials and the creation of utilitarian objects such as benches and seats. "It is about the unexpected result in which a heavy material—intended to structure the architecture—twists like a thread to create a bank, a seat or pedestal. Thus, the steel is used to draw light, transparent and contemplative spaces".
