First Grand International Video Art Exhibition in Peru

Organized by Alta Tecnología Andina (ATA), the Fundación Telefónica, and the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI), the exhibition entitled VIDEO XXI Colección Lemaître presents, for the first time in Latin America, videos from the Jean-Conrad and Isabelle Lemaître Collection. This exhibition will be held from July 8 to October 3 at the Centro Fundación Telefónica and at the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI). The Lemaître Collection contains works by contemporary artists who produce videos in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America. The exhibition includes a total of 23 works by artists from the following fifteen countries: Argentina, Bosnia, China, Denmark, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Israel, Lebanon, Morocco, Mexico, The Netherlands, Portugal, and Switzerland. The Lemaître Collection has two distinguishing characteristics: on the one hand, it presents works that, for the most part, have been produced during this last decade, and on the other hand, it consists of pieces produced in several parts of the world that have an international projection. Thus, visitors will be able to have a multicultural experience closely connected with contemporary video art. Curated by José Carlos Mariátegui and ATA, the exhibition presents artists who create videos in order to develop critical postures on the human condition and to establish new models for global exchange. The selection of works will allow the public to acquire an understanding of the various video art proposals that are currently produced on the international art scene. Several other activities have been scheduled to complement the event, such as special presentations, workshops, a roundtable, as well as guided tours.
