Auto Body is a monumental coming together of over forty female artists that use performance as a powerful vehicle for transcendence, movement and transformation. After its opening in December 2014 at the Giant Motors space— formerly an auto body shop—located in Miami Beach, the exhibition makes its first international debut at the Faena Art Center in Buenos Aires. By examining the political and economic inequalities in the art world and beyond, Auto Body offers a platform to showcase the diversity of the female voice and to encourage international dialogue between female curators and female artists both at the local and international levels. Auto Body–Buenos includes nine new works by Argentine artists selected by a local curatorial committee formed by: Ximena Caminos (executive director of the Faena Art Center), Larisa Zmud (founder and co-director of Slyzmud Gallery), and Vivi Tellas (independent curator and stage director). Some of the invited artists include: Cecilia Bengolea, Rosario Blefari, Adriana Bustos, Jimena Croceri, Ana Gallardo, Silvia Gurfein, Marina Mariasch / Máquina de Lavar, Karina Peisajovich and Diana Szeinblum. The first iteration of the project Auto Body, produced by Spinello Projects in Miami, featured works by 35 international female artists that were selected by 26 female curators from around the world. The program consisted of a series of performances by artists: Naama Tsabar, Kembra Pfahler, Karen Negro, Zackary Drucker and Tameka Norris, among others. The exhibition in Buenos Aires includes the addition of video performances like the La Casa Rodante (The Motor Home) by Ana Gallardo, and Sin Título (Untitled) by Karina Peisajovich, among others.
