First International Biennial of Glass Art in Iberoamerica

The Organizing Committee calls for the First International Biennial of Glass Art in Iberoamerica to be held from August 28 to October 23, 2022, at the Municipal Museum of Cartago, Costa Rica.
Artists working glass, individually or collectively, professionals, graduates or self-taught, of all nationalities, with a minimum age of 18 years old at the time of the opening of the call, may participate.
The Jury will be composed of five experts in the different glass techniques and will be appointed by the Organizing Committee of this Biennial. The Jury will be presented at the end of January 2022. The decisions of the Jury will be final and not subject to appeal. The Jury may declare the Biennial void.
The proposals should focus on encounters with glass, stories of alchemy and light.
The works must be made by the artist or the collective either entirely or mostly (70% minimum) in glass, in any of its techniques, except for the technique of stained glass and mosaic. Works are limited to those in which glass plays a significant role or scenic works in which glass is used. The dimensions of two-dimensional works may not exceed 80 cm high x 80 cm wide. Three-dimensional works may not exceed 60 cm high x 50 cm wide x 50 cm deep. Works may not exceed a weight of 15 kg.
Only works created from January 2019 to the closing date: April 31, 2022, will be eligible.
Works that have participated and/or have been accepted in other calls or otherwise have been disseminated through electronic or physical media will not be accepted.
A maximum of two works will be accepted except for the jewelry category, where a maximum of 12 pieces will be accepted.
The selected works must arrive with all the necessary accessories and be ready for installation. If the work requires lighting or special equipment (lights, projector, monitor, transformer, etc.), these must already be attached or included in the work.

The participant must clarify in their registration the level to which they apply. These levels will be considered in each technique. The Organizing Committee and the Jury reserve the right to change the level of the work if they consider it pertinent.
