Primer Concurso Arte sin Mordaza de Creación Digital (First Uncensored Digital Art Competition)

Aimed at stimulating a reflection on freedom in Venezuela and promoting digital creation, the Fundación Libertad and the Fundación Cultural José Cabrujas announce the Primer Consurso Arte Sin Mordaza de Creación Digital (First Uncensored Digital Art Competition). The call is open to individuals¿or collectives¿over the age of 18 and of any nationality. Participants must submit original works, never before exhibited or published, and specifically created for this competition. The works must center on the theme ¿Freedom in Venezuela,¿ and they must be created through digital media, whether the proposals are individual photographs, photographic series¿with no more than 10 photos per series¿or videos. The finalist works along with those given honorable mentions by the jury, will be entered into the Fundación Libertad's archives. Although they will not be used for profit, all the works may be used for the purpose of defending freedom. Proposals must be submitted at www.sinmordaza.org. As part of the application process, each participant must complete an online form that includes personal information, as well as a brief description of the work being entered. A First Place will be selected from the finalist works in each of the following categories: photography, design, and video. The finalist works will be exhibited for a one year period at research centers, institutes, institutions, cultural centers, and national public spaces; and in the following national and international universities: UCAB (Caracas), SMU (Dallas, Texas), Harvard University (Boston, Massachusetts), and Georgetown University (Washington, DC). Likewise, the works will also be presented at the Web 2.0 of Un Mundo Sin Mordaza, and in national and international digital mass media, audiovisual and printed media, and at the websites of the institutions associated with the project. The deadline to submit all proposals is November 7, 2010. The final results will be published at www.sinmordaza.org, on Friday, December 3, 2010. There, the First Place works will be showcased along with the works selected by the jury, as well as those that qualified for the final.
