National Culture Awards 2021
The call for the 2021 National Culture Awards will be open until June 30. Its 53rd edition aims to recognize the creation and management of arts and culture as fundamental manifestations of identity. The University of Antioquia has acquired a commitment that encompasses intercultural, inclusive, and contemporary dialogue.
For 2021 the call has four categories: 14th National Award for Audiovisual Creation, short film category; 13th National Award for Performing Arts, performance and living arts; 9th National Award for Research and Cultural Management; and 1st International Short Story Award, Universidad de Antioquia. From which we highlight:
13th National Award for Performing Arts, performance and living arts: calling performers, actors, happenings actors, or artistic collectives, whose main interest is the work and development of creative proposals in the area of performance, living arts, body arts, action arts, happening, integrated performing arts, experimental theater, and dance, body art, among others; to apply for actions that have not been awarded, or are participating in other contests simultaneously, or have not been selected for exhibition or similar commitments with any institution.
The jury will select several finalists; each will present their proposal following the spatial conditions previously announced by the General Coordination of the Awards and the Academic Coordination. If it is not possible to present in person, virtual alternatives will be explored.
Each of them will be assigned funds, which will not exceed COP 5,000,000 (five million Colombian pesos), to cover set-up, travel, and logistics costs. If the costs exceed the amount mentioned above, they must be borne by the finalist.
For applications for works presented before, in case of being selected as a finalist, the artist must attach the plans, photomontages, models, sketches, formal description, audiovisual records of the set-up, and other records that he/she has of the work to the email awardscultura@udea.edu.co

9th National Award for Research and Cultural Management: It seeks to support, recognize and make visible cultural practices and projects related to the creation, production, and dissemination of the arts, the management of heritage, curatorial practices, community projects of cultural action. Innovative projects that contribute to developing new spaces that broaden the cultural horizon of communities, localities, and regions will be favored. Also, it aims to stimulate the leadership of culture managers and their skills for planning, administration, organization, and development of projects.
It will also recognize the continuous work of a person, group of people, or institutions that, through practice, demonstrate a relevant and recognized performance in cultural management, such as training processes of cultural managers, the leadership of practices cultural and artistic, the creation and development of innovative curatorial projects, and management of social transformation processes through culture.
