Faena Prize

The Faena Arts Center invites artists from anywhere in the world to participate in its competition, endowed with a monetary prize of US$25,000 and a total of US$50,000 towards financing the construction of the winning site-specific project. The project will be exhibited at the Faena Arts Center's Molinos Gallery in mid-2013. Two special mentions, endowed with US$500 each, will also be awarded.

The call is open to individuals of any nationality, 18 or older. Participants can be emerging, mid-career, or established artists. Submissions by individuals or artist collectives are accepted in installation, sculpture, painting, technological art, sound art, or any combination.

The international jury is comprised of Carlos Basualdo, contemporary art curator art the Philadelphia Museum of Art and an adjunct professor at the University of Venice, in Italy; Caroline Bourgeois, curator of the François Pinault Foundation's exhibition in Switzerland; and Inés Katzenstein, director of the Art Department at Universidad Torcuato di Tella, in Argentina. The jury will be coordinated by Ximena Caminos, Executive Director of the Faena Arts Center.

According to Ximena Caminos, "this prize was conceived for the promotion of artistic experimentation, providing an opportunity to create large site-specific projects that interact with the Faena Arts Center, a unique space in Buenos Aires for its history and style."

The call for submissions is open through July 6th, 2012. The exhibition of selected works submitted will open in May, 2013. Once the exhibition is open, a book devoted to the winning work will be published.

To participate, candidates must complete an entry form available, along with the full requirements, at www.faenaartscenter.org.premiosf
