The call is now open for participants in the third VIDEOAKT International Video Art Biennial, to be held June 25th through 29th, 2013. Submissions will be received until April 6th.
Submitted works must have been created after the year 2009 and have a maximum duration of 10 minutes. Participants must be 40 years old or younger. Works must be uploaded to Vimeo for viewing, and the link must be sent along with the technical datasheet to director@videoaktbiennial.com (if the participant has a Vimeo password, it must be included.) Submissions must include to photographs of the work or works in JPEG format at 300 dpi, sent to the above email. Artists can submit more than one work, provided separate datasheets and photographs for each are included. In the registration form, please indicate if there are any outstanding agreements with film of video distributors of any kind, specifying which.
Creators of selected works and the eventual award winner will be notified directly via email. After the notification, they must submit their wok within 15 days in .MOV or .AVI format, via free transfer severs online such as wetransfer (up to 2Gb) www.wetransfer.com, wuala (up to 5Gb), www.wuala.com, dropbox (2Gb) www.dropbox.com, yousendit (2Gb) www.yousendit.com.
A jury comprised of contemporary and audio-visual art experts will select finalists, as well as the Videoakt - Casa de Velásquez de la Académie de France à Madrid award winner. The award is a tw-month production grant in one of the artusts spaces provided by Casa de Velásquez (www.casadevelzaquez.org). Over that period, the winner will have access to te institution facilities, including printmaking and sculpture studios, recording and music studios, and library. The artist can be integrated into cultural activities as Académie de France à Madrid deems necessary.
VIDEOAKT will provide 2,000 euros (1,000 euros per month) and will cover travel costs for the winner, who will be required to produce one video art work during the grant period, to be presented at the end. One copy of this work will be the property of Casa de Velázquez and a second copy will reain in the VIDEOAKT video library, to be inckuded in any activities as required.
The author will cede diffusion rights of the video art and its images to be displayed (for catalog, web, press, broadcast and on-line diffusion) in the specific context of the same event and traveling exhibitions.
