The Turner Award is the most important one in Great Britain and, this year, the winner of the 36,000 Euros was the British artist Mark Wallinger. The awarded work State Britain is an installation simulating a protest against the Irak war with banners and posters written with texts such as ¿No More Wars¿ or ¿Baby Killers¿ and other objects. When this installation was exhibited at the exclusion zone of one kilometer radius, banned for manifestations in the surroundings of the British Parliament, it was seized by the police. Christoph Grunenberg, Director of Tate Liverpool and leader of the jury that grants the award, highlighted ¿the immediacy, visceral intensity and historical importance¿ of the installation. The jury also noted that ¿the work combines a brave political statement with the artistic skill of articulating fundamental human truths¿.
