National Arts and Letters Award, Mexico

The government of the United States of Mexico, through the Ministry of Culture of Mexico, announces the call to participate in the 2016 National Arts and Letters Award. The award will be granted to individuals, communities or groups that, through productions of scholarly research or the dissemination of academic work, have contributed to enrich Mexico's cultural heritage or advance the following four areas: Linguistics and Literature, Fine Arts, History, Social Sciences and Philosophy, Folk Arts and Traditions. The call is open to Mexican nationals—by the time their candidacies are submitted before the awarding committee—that have excelled in one of the aforementioned areas and that have never been granted the award before in the area in which they are competing. Winners in each of the four categories will receive a gold medal, $762,666.00 (seven hundred sixty-two thousand, six hundred sixty-six pesos and 00/100), a diploma signed by the President of the Republic stating the reasons for granting the award, as well as summary of the reasoning by the jury; and the emeritus creator stimulus granted by the Fonca. The deadline to enter all applications is August 8 at the Foca homepage: http://foncaenlinea.cultura.gob.mx. Candidates must complete the application form using the documentation that they originally submitted for the candidacy. To learn about the complete rules, visit http://fonca.cultura.gob.mx/
