MAMba Art and New Technologies Awards

The Telefónica Foundation of Buenos Aires presented the MAMba – Telefónica Foundation Art and New Technologies Award. The Grand Prize, for research and production, was $60,000 Argentinean pesos.

Insight, by Sebastián Díaz Morales, won the Grand Prize in the category "Projects. Support to artistic production." Jorge Caterbetti's installation THUMOS (Corazón-Impulso) won First Prize, while Second Prize went to Christian Wloch for Antenópolis and Third Prize to Marcello Mercado for Paisajes con vacas (no hay nada más puro que la sombra de una vaca). Gabriela Golder (La Zona) and Laurence Bender (Soliloquio) received Honorary Mentions.

In the "Finished Work" category, the jury gave First prize to Yamil Burguener for Spill Over Ber; Second Prize went to Ananké Asseff for Constelaciones; and Third Prize was awarded to Nicolás Bacal for La simultaneidad de nuestra percepción de la luz. Honorary mentions in this category were Javier J. Plano (5 actions on collective memory) and Claudia Flores Colominas (Primarios). Selected videos will also be exhibited: Galindo, by Marcelo Galindo; Entre la decepción y la esperanza, by Cintia Clara Romero; Colección Mercedes Santamarina, by Cristian Segura; and an untitled video by Camilo Guinot.

All award winners will be included in an exhibition open through September 15th, at the Foundation's gallery.

The MAMba-Telefónica Foundation award was established in 2002 with the purpose of promoting innovative artistic expressions , generating a space for the development of productions that, hand in hand with technology, expand the borders of the visual arts. The award also fosters the development of experimental projects and provides a financial incentive for artists.
